Narges Kalhor (born 1984 in Tehran, based in Germany ) is an award-winning Iranian-German director, video artist, and editor. Her works move between documentary, experimental art, and fiction, often exploring themes such as exile, identity, feminist perspectives, and political resistance.

Her most notable works include:

  • Shoot Me (2013) – short film, nominated for several national short film awardsIn the Name of Scheherazade (2019) – internationally screened and widely awardedSensitive Content (2023) – experimental short, winner of the Saxon Film Award 2024 and the Experimental Film Award at GIFF MexicoShahid (2024) – her feature film debut, awarded the Caligari Film Prize and CICAE Arthouse Cinema Award at the Berlinale 2024, as well as the Hessian Film Award for Best Feature Film; released in German cinemas in August 2024

  • She is currently developing her next fiction feature, The Inverted Well, selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market 2025.
